Delete your account
Deleting your sesh account removes it and everything attached to it. It cannot be undone, and there is no way to recover the history afterwards.
If you still have the app
- Open sesh and go to the You tab.
- Tap the settings icon.
- Scroll to Account and tap Delete account.
- Hold the confirm button for three seconds.
Deletion runs immediately. If your phone is offline when you confirm, sesh keeps trying until it succeeds rather than signing you out and leaving the account alive on the server.
If you have already uninstalled
Email delete@startsesh.app from the email address on your sesh account, and ask for the account to be deleted. If you signed in with Apple and used Hide My Email, send it from the relay address Apple gave you, or include your sesh handle so the account can be found.
Requests are handled by hand. Yours will be deleted within 30 days, usually far sooner, and you will get a reply confirming it is done.
What gets deleted
Deletion cascades from the account itself, so everything keyed to it goes with it in the same operation:
- Your account and sign-in. The sign-in record linking your Apple, Google or email identity to sesh, and the account itself.
- Your profile. Display name, handle, and the date you joined. Your handle is released and someone else can take it.
- Your profile photo. The image is removed from the storage bucket in the same operation, so the link to it stops working.
- Your session history. Every session record, and every daily total behind your hours, streak and leaderboard position.
- Your friendships. Every friendship is removed from both sides. You disappear from your friends' boards; nobody is notified.
- Your invites. Your invite link stops working, along with the record of who redeemed it.
- Your leagues. Your membership of every league. Any league you created is deleted outright, for everyone in it. See the warning below.
- Your blocks and reports. Anyone you blocked, and any report you filed.
- Your device records. Every install of sesh registered to the account, and its notification token, so no further notification can reach you.
- Your product interaction events. The three app_opened, session_start_refused and session_discarded records described in the privacy policy.
If you created a league, the league goes too
A league belongs to whoever created it, and deleting your account deletes it for every member. The friendships that league created are separate and survive on their own. People who became friends through it stay friends. If you want the league to outlive your account, there is no way to hand it over today, so create a replacement and share its link before you delete.
What deletion does not touch
- Data that was never uploaded. Your notes, the apps you picked to stay open, and any sessions you scheduled live only on your phone. Deleting the app removes them.
- Your Apple or Google account. Deleting your sesh account does not touch the account you signed in with. You may also want to revoke sesh's access there: on iPhone under Settings, your name, Sign in with Apple; for Google, in your Google account's third-party connections.
- Your friends' own records. Their hours and sessions are theirs and stay put. Only the link between you is removed.
Deleting the app is not deleting the account
Uninstalling sesh removes everything held on that phone, but the account and its history stay on the server, and a friend's board will still show you. Use one of the two routes above to remove the account itself.
